How a deal becomes verified.
Every deal starts unverified. It is visible to the community straight away but carries no Verified badge. The badge is earned by the community, not handed out by us.
- 1Someone shares a deal.
They pick the product, retailer, channel, price, and (if they like) attach a receipt photo or a quick note about what their pet thinks of the food.
- 2Other pet parents tap “Saw this price”.
When you find a deal still at the price it was shared, tap Saw this price. Submitters cannot confirm their own deals. Each pet parent can only take one stance per deal.
- 3Three confirms earn a Verified badge.
After three pet parents (other than the submitter) confirm the price, the deal gets a Verified badge automatically. The badge tells everyone the price was real for at least three other shoppers.
What if the price is wrong?
Prices change. If you click through and find a deal is no longer at that price, open the deal’s three-dot menu and choose Price is wrong or expired. Two reports remove the deal from public surfaces, no moderator needed. We log every report so we can spot bad-faith reporting and act on it.
Reviews come from feeding, not from stars.
Pawfully does not have star ratings or freeform “5-star, would buy again” reviews. A star rating tells you almost nothing about whether a food is right for your pet. Instead, every time you share a deal you can answer a couple of quick questions:
- What does your pet think? Loves it, eats it, or refuses it.
- Outcomes you’ve noticed. Digestion, coat, energy, or a reaction.
Those structured answers become your review. Owners of similar pets see the verdict and outcomes on the product page. A pet parent with five logs across a year carries more weight than a one-off post.
We will soon let you log a product directly for one of your pets, with optional notes, duration fed, and reaction symptoms when relevant. Logs are the underlying signal that powers PQS refinement, recommendations, and the Community pulse.
What we ask of you.
- Share real prices you actually paid. Not promo banners, not clickbait. The retailer name and channel should match where you bought it.
- Be kind and specific. Pet parents are anxious about food. Helpful detail (“my older cat with sensitive digestion did well on this for three months”) beats vague praise or vague criticism.
- Reactions are factual, not personal. Use Saw this price when you’ve seen the same price. Use Expired when the price has changed. We do not have a downvote, on purpose.
- Confirm only what you’ve seen. Tapping Saw this price means you actually checked. The system trusts you, so please respect it.
- Pet welfare comes first. If you describe a reaction your pet had, we treat that seriously and may share recall-relevant information with regulators. We never publish your identity in that flow without consent.
Things we will remove.
- Made-up prices. If you submit prices you didn’t pay, we will remove your account.
- Veterinary advice. Pawfully is not a vet. If a pet parent describes a sick pet or a reaction in a discussion, we surface a vet-finder link and may move the post to moderation. Please do not give medical advice in replies.
- Brand-bashing or piling on. Disliking a brand is fine. Coordinating negative reactions to harm a brand is not. The system blocks pile-ons structurally, not by moderator whim.
- Affiliate spam. Sharing a deal you have a financial interest in, without disclosing it, is not allowed.
- Hate, harassment, or personal attacks. Standard internet rules. We ban for these without warning.
How moderation works.
Most decisions on Pawfully Community are made by pet parents through Saw this price and Expired votes. A small Pawfully team reviews edge cases: reaction reports, suspicious patterns, posts flagged by our medical-keyword detector, and submissions from brand-new accounts. We aim to respond within 24 hours.
If we remove your post or deal, we will tell you which guideline it broke. You can appeal by replying to that message.
